The 2023 minor league co-leader in stolen bases with 94, St. Louis Cardinals outfield prospect Victor Scott II came into spring training to prove that he can handle the pitching at the MLB level and now he might be earning himself a chance to start the season with the club.
After slashing .303/.369/.425 with 39 extra-base hits, 63 RBI and 95 runs scored on top of the 94 stolen bases while anchoring the outfield defense, the 23-year-old left-hander is in line for a shot to make the big league club with starting centerfielder Tommy Edman not expected to be ready for the beginning of the 2024 season.

With blinding speed and a short, compact swing Scott has all of the tools to be a top-of-the-lineup hitter for years to come and should remind Cardinals fans of past outfield greats Lou Brock, Vince Coleman and his mentor Willie McGee.

While he hasn't had the success at the dish that he has wanted to begin spring training, slashing .167/.333/.333 in 12 at-bats, his ability to steal bases and play good defense makes him a great candidate as the fourth outfielder to break camp.
While he could use some more time to develop in the minors, Scott still has plenty of camp to prove he belongs in the MLB and if he continues to turn heads he will likely earn that debut this upcoming season.
The Cardinals are looking to rebound from their disastrous last-place finish in 2023. Scott and a handful of other young players, including shortstop Masyn Winn and outfielder Jordan Walker, will look to provide the veteran-heavy Cardinals with the support they will need to succeed in 2024.
